Lipid Peroxidation in Liver of SPF Parous ICR Mice

Abstract
The effect of the frequency of parturition on the contents of gluathione, ascorbic acid and lipid peroaxides in liver and uterus from female ICR mice was investigated. The litter size and weaning rate in SPF ICR mice abruptly decreased after 7th parity. Glutathione levels in liver and uterus were not significantly changed as a consequence of parturition. The concentration of ascorbic acid in liver was significantly increased after 7th parity as compared to the mice that wasn¢¥t hued.
Uterus from the non-paired mice contained mom endogenous thiobarbituric acid reactive materials, but it was resistant to lipid peroxidation in NADPH-induced system as well as without added cofactors as compared to liver.
As a function of parturiton, the uterus became more susceptible to lipid peroxidation with and without added cofactors.
As the frequency of parturiton increased, the uterus was more sensitive to lipid peroxidation with or without added cofactors.
